At Sheldon Dental Centre, we make it our mission to ensure every patient has a relaxed, calm and positive experience at our practice. From the moment you step through our door to the moment you leave and beyond, you should expect nothing less than the highest standard of care from a warm and welcoming team. If you’re a new patient, we thought it would be useful to outline what you can expect from being a patient at Sheldon Dental Centre.
First impressions
We extend a warm welcome to all patients even before they step through the door at Sheldon Dental Centre. When you get in touch to make your appointment, our friendly reception team will help arrange a suitable appointment time and deal with any queries. And when you arrive, you’ll be greeted by pleasant, compassionate staff and an environment that’s inviting and relaxing.
First appointment
You’ll be given a medical questionnaire to fill out, and have an opportunity to adjust any personal details on your file. You’ll also receive a full examination by the dentist, which may include digital photographs and x-rays, along with lots of questions about your lifestyle, general health and oral hygiene habits. If a dental problem is identified, this will be discussed fully.
Treatment planning
If further treatment is required, a plan will be drawn up that details clearly everything you can expect from our service, and the costs involved. You will have as much time as you need to ask questions and consider your options – including dental finance. You’ll also be advised of the aftercare you can expect, and if you’ll need to take any time off to recover from treatment. Once you have confirmed you’re happy with your treatment plan, treatment can proceed – in some instances during the same appointment, especially if the dentist needs to eliminate pain. In other cases, you may need to return for a future appointment at a convenient time.
Post treatment
We won’t send you home after treatment without a clear understanding of what you need to do to keep your teeth and gums clean and infection-free. We will recall you for follow-up checks and hygiene appointments, and will endeavour to see you as soon as possible if you have any concerns following your treatment.

Bethan has a broad range of experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, managing and treating a wide range of conditions. She is very good with anxious patients supporting them through procedures with her gentle and encouraging manor. Bethan graduated from the University of Birmingham Dental School in 2016. She undertook further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. She has also gained her diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
She works part time here at Sheldon Dental Centre and for Worcester Acute hospital trust as a Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Kalpesh works at both Sheldon Dental Practice and the Birmingham Dental Hospital where he provides consultant-led care and treatments. Kalpesh provides a range of general and cosmetic treatments and has advanced training in the provision of oral surgery and conscious sedation for anxious adults and children and is involved in teaching undergraduate dental students. He has also obtained his Membership diploma of the Royal College of Surgeons in recognition of further postgraduate training and was awarded ‘ Best Young Dentist Midlands – Highly Commended’ in the 2019 Private Dentistry awards. Dr Kalpesh has a soothing, gentle and caring manner with his patients and will go above and beyond to ensure that your experience is nothing but the best. In particular, he has a passion for Cosmetic dentistry including Invisalign teeth straightening, smile design and facial aesthetic treatments.
He keeps updated with the latest techniques by attending courses both nationally and worldwide. In his spare time, Kalpesh enjoys reading and writing non-fiction books and working on creative projects, travelling and experiencing different cultures.

Imania works here at Sheldon Dental Centre, providing a range of dental care to our lovely patients. She qualified in 2018 from the University of Manchester and did her foundation year with our Dental Partners practice in Bolton (North Manchester). After this Imania carried out 2 years of further hospital training in both Manchester and Birmingham, as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Senior House Officer, obtaining a range of skills in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine.
During this time Imania obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Imania also has a PGCert in Dental Education, and teaching remains to be one of her passions to this day.
Imania is a keen Invisalign provider, as well as a qualified Intravenous Sedationist, and working with nervous and anxious patients is her area of expertise.
In her free time Imania likes to carry out charity work, play the piano, go to the gym, spend time with family and friends, and shop/eat-out to her hearts content.

We want to make the world a better place
Whether it’s getting involved in our community or working to help others further afield, we take our social responsibility seriously. After all, what’s the point of providing a service in Birmingham if we don’t engage with everything else that’s going on here? We’ve found that giving our team the time and means to volunteer and raise money for good causes – together or individually, at home or abroad – makes them feel great about giving back, and creates bonds that no office party can compete with! As well as volunteering and fundraising for Bridge2Aid, our team aims to make a regular commitment to local causes, too.
